Netherland Horse Rescue

http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=7208904950568913763&hl=en

Above is a link to a video of the Netherland horse rescue. In 2006 there was a huge storm which flooded the horses pastures. They managed to get to high ground and were surrounded by water on a tiny peice of land. There was hardly any room to move or sleep and no food. Rescuers tried to help them off but couldnt till the third day when a group of women rode out on horses and showed them a safe path to dry land. Many workers had made a path through the water, clearing out wood, fences, barbed wire and debri that would endager the horses. I was very touched by this story because to me it is a analogy of the gospel and the important roll that women play. The path has been made clear by Heavenly Father through the prophet and the scriptures and it is up to us to follow it. Women were the ones to show the horses the safe path. It is like the role of women as mothers to teach and rear our children to show them the clear path. To me the horses following the women are like her postarity and all those they come in contact with. As women we have a divine task to accomplish and this was a wonderful example of how we can really effect the world if we have faith, keep the commandments and set an example to all the world. Please take the time to watch the video. It is very touching.

Here are a few articles that are my favorite about mothers and women:

Tagged

Ive been tagged to tell 7 things about myself. I havent blogged in a while so I thought this would be a good reason to. Not much has been going on with us just the same ol' everyday stuff. This is going to be hard because I cant really think of too many things to say but here we go anyway, lets see how far i get.

1. I have a really bad habit of commiting the "gufaww" laugh when im with my family, especially my sisters. And yes I know you guys make fun of me for it but I know you like it.

2. I really get into movies and books. If i pick up a book I can read it in a day. For example I read all 3 Twilight books in three days. Poor Tommy learned how to turn on the TV and change the chanel to PBS in that time. I also really get into movies and have a habit of shouting out and getting too excited. Lord of the Rings is my most famous moment.

3. I really have no desire to travel the world. People ask me where I would go if I had a limitless credit card that I didnt have to pay back and I get reactions when I tell them I really dont care for travel. I would just ask Dave where he would want to go and take him there. Or I would go and visit all my family members instead. Hawaii and Rome really have no appeal for me unless my family is there.

4. Hmmm.. its getting harder to think... Umm most of you know that I really like to make cakes. If I find out your going to have a party, Im going to ask you if I can make your cake.

5. What you see is basically what you get. There really is no other side to me. Im pretty much an open book and Im not to afraid to tell you my opinions if you ask them. I have a habit of being too blunt and causing a few people to blush or just stare at me in shock at what I just said. Ive embarassed Dave enough where hes not shocked anymore.

6. Almost done. Not sure how many of you know, but most of you do. I come from a very large family. There are 14 kids total, 7 boys and 7 girls. I am number 10. All from the same Mom and Dad. I can me a little overprotective of my younger siblings, but its just because I love them all so much. When Dave and I started dating one of the things he said he admired so much about me was my loyalty and love for my family. They are all so special and important to me. All of them have had such a great and good impact on my life. I could go on and on about how awsome my family is but I have to get to number 7.

7. I have been bitten by a piranah. Yes it does hurt and I did bleed.

I tag all of my family members with blogs. That includes Jen and all the inlaws.

Basketball Cake

I did this one for a friend's little boy who is turning 2 today. This one was fun to make. The cupcakes go around the cake in a circle with the candles in it.

No more dishes for me!

Okay, so last night I cut my hand pretty bad on a glass that had broken in the sink while I was doing the dishes. We had some of the guys over for dinner, so we had to kick them out and drop Tommy off at a friends house so we could go to the ER. (Thanks Katie again... if you've ever taken a kid to the ER for 3 hours you know its not pretty.) This is me waiting for the very painful numming shots before I got my three stitches. I had some good nurses and we finally got home about midnight. Now this morning I cant even put my hair up, when I tried the cut started bleeding again. Changing diapers is painful too. But the good news is that I have a doctors note saying that I'm not allowed to do the dishes for at least a week. If any of you know anything about me you know that I cant stand to do dishes. So with that considered, the tetnis shot and the painful numbing shots and the pain this morning is almost worth it.

Tommy's Girlfriend

Tommy has a crush on his little friend Ava from the nursrey. He talks about her all day and every time he sees her, he runs to go find her favorite toy. Puppy love is so cute.
(And yes he did get a haircut. He looks like a little boy now and not a baby)

Tagged

Ive been tagged and I usually dont do these things and I only did it because it was Katie that tagged me.
"Jair sat there in stunned silence, his food forgotten."
From The Wishsong of Shannara by Terry Brooks.
I would recomend this trilogy if you like fantasy and if you skip the first book (to descriptive)

I tag... Adrian, David,... and um I dont think anyone else reads a lot so you're all off the hook.

To complete this tag on your own:
1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages)
2. Turn to page 123
3. Find the 5th sentence
4. Post the 5th sentence on your blog
5. Tag 5 people
